               **Similar to the Phoenix’s life cycle, Phoenix Winged Coatyl also experiences a rebirth period through fire. This natural occurrence happens once every twenty years. Yet the reasons for a Burn Cycle relates to a more reptilian purpose. A burn cycle signifies that a Phoenix Winged Coatyl is too big for its own skin causing them to incinerate their old skin to make way for a new and larger form. During this time their system slowly shuts down to a near death state visually to ease painful discomfort during a burn cycle. **

Race: Phoenix Winged Coatyl

                          **Coatyl vary in four classes:

                               -Phoenix Winged Coatyl (red/orange/yellow)
                              
                                -River Coatyl (yellow/green/teal)

                               -Shimmer Coat Coatyl (parrot coloring and pattern)

Personality:

                Sabeen being a resident of the desert with a nomadic life style rarely comes across other people. This causes her to be rather flighty with others yet also curious. Favoring to small glittery objects she’s known to claim a few coins and senseless trinkets as her own if she comes across sleeping travelers through not completely graceful means. Her success rate is extremely low when it comes to thieving from travelers. In comfortable surroundings she creates a game of everything. This comes from a carefree child like demeanor with a fascination towards anything that moves and shines. Making her laugh is far from a strenuous task if you are in good favor with her (which also isn’t too hard to achieve if you know the right people).

 

History:

                Being raised by her father alone Sabeen has learned all the animalistic skills she needs to survive on her own. The reasoning for the solo parenting is due to the dangerous methods used to hatch a Phoenix Winged Coatyl.

                **Phoenix Winged Coatyl differ from its other coatyl brethren. They are hatched via live flame created by their parental unit. If the parental unit is not careful they are known to burn themselves alive in an effort of producing their hatchling. This is why Phoenix Winged Coatyl are considered rare**

                At the age of thirteen her father was taken by the dangers of the desert during a trip outside of their home for food. Having no choice but to learn to survive on her own Sabeen slowly become accustom to a solitary life style. Unfamiliar with the outside world of the limited dessert range she roamed Sabeen’s younger years were a harsh battle with trial and error. Slowly growing in size she soon was able to adapt to a scavenging life style.

Abilities:
           
         Human Form:

                -Shapeshifting: She changes to a winged snake coatyl. Still considered a hatchling she is only the length of an average man’s forearm (elbow to finger tip if she stretches).

                -Natural Toxin: Coatyl do not breathe fire naturally like other dragon classes. Closer to a snake like origin they produce a nerve attacking toxin. This toxin causes the nerves to misfire in such a way that the victim feels as if they are burning from the inside out. Side effects of the toxin are aggressive inflammation accompanied by raised bumps to the general area of the bite. There is also hair loss in the bite area yet depending on the individual the hair can grow back. The duration of the effects vary. Sabeen is only in her first burn cycle meaning her toxin is rather weak. When bitten by Sabeen the victim will still experience the side effects yet the burning sensation is mild; a numbing sting of heat and needle pricking feelings up and down the bite area. Her father on the other hand who lived to be in his 23 burn cycle would have a vastly more toxic bite. The burning sensation could be described as unbearable lasting up to an entire week. This toxin is meant to stun and does not cause death.

                ** In human form her fangs disappear yet the toxin glands still exist, her only needing to constrict her throat to produce her natural arsenal to spit it at any threat.**

                **Antidote: The antidote to the Coatyl toxin is actually found in the coatyl’s saliva. To protect themselves from their own poison along with fellow coatyl toxins their body has naturally provided itself with a combating agent against the nerve attacking toxins. **

            Coatyl Form:

                - Shapeshifting: She changes back to her human form which is 5’5” and weighs 117lbs.

                         Viewed as the most reactive toy she could have ever wished for Cale is a main source of her entertainments. This includes quiet a bit of harassment and thieving on her part if she doesn't feel he's giving her the attention she requires. During times of alarm she does recognize him as the leading figure along with the strongest member of their group.

                         A favored playmate Sabeen can mostly be found in the several warm layers of the young boys clothes during traveling times. Earning a great deal of her trust and affection she is known to listen to the young alchemist over others coming to his call like a diligent puppy. Not understanding everything he says she still learns a great deal from him with her being more than eager to take in any random knowledge he is willing to share.

                Sabeen is far from the fighting type and would rather dash during any times of confrontation. With practice she’s become fairly quick on her feet. Transformation allows for her to hide in small places and also helps with an intimidation factor. If in a group she mostly plays the role of distraction as long as she is able. Unfortunately she is known to trip around and is easy to overpower if someone comes without close proximity.

Additional info:

                -Hates water. Simply spraying her with water will startle her enough to run away. The only way she’ll come near water is for a drink which is still quiet strenuous for her.

                -Coatyl fangs are retractable. Like any snake they fold up to the roof of her mouth. In human form these fangs disappear yet the toxin glands still exist, her only needing to constrict her throat to produce her natural arsenal to spit it at any threat.

                -She loves mimicking others. This helps her progress in vocabulary seeing how she doesn’t know the general language well enough for successful verbal communication. She is also illiterate and would rather rip pages out of books over reading them.

                -Sabeen does not cook her food. As any animal hunting down food is a means of fun for her. It isn’t abnormal to see her kill her food simply by playing with it before eating it raw.

                -Sabeen will only be able to grow up to 10 ft/ 3 m long

                -Sabeen carries her father’s wisdom with her everywhere. He was a very wise Coatyl that would share his wisdom daily hoping to give his daughter the best chance she could have to survive. Coatyl normally leave the nest after their first burn cycle meaning Sabeen is not deprived of proper survival education when her father disappeared. She is well versed in her races language yet not in their customs do to isolation. On a side note any information regarding other races’ customs are a mystery to Sabeen. Everything is a learning experience….including how to be a proper lady.

                -Loves food. With this obsession of having to eat twice her body weight at every meal she is prone to long naps and bloating misery.
